Clinical Application — COPD & Asthma
In 2026, nebulizers are the first-line treatment for managing COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and severe asthma exacerbations. They provide a "rescue" function during attacks when a patient’s airways are too narrow to use a traditional handheld inhaler effectively.
Because nebulizer treatment involves "tidal breathing" (normal, relaxed breaths), it requires much less coordination than a metered-dose inhaler (MDI). This makes it essential for patients in respiratory distress who cannot hold their breath or inhale deeply.
